In April 2024, I rekindled my passion for art after a career in architecture and corporate leadership. While I studied painting in college, I’m now experimenting with digital media, blending photos, AI, and digital painting. My work is an evolving exploration, and I’m sharing this journey to stay accountable and invite your feedback as I develop my creative voice.
At this point, my approach is largely experimental. However, while building this website I tried to group the 25 – 30 pieces I have completed into a loose set of categories.
My work is evolving rapidly as I experiment with style, subject matter and technique, so this is where you can see what I’ve been up to lately!
As I continue this journey, I am learning to balance the technical demands of digital media with my desire for artistic expression.
In the second phase, I began to work with images and textures layered on one another and blended into a digital chine collé.
From the start I was intrigued by AI’s ability to generate multiple ideas for paintings from prompts, scans or iPad scribbles
As 2023 came to a close, I found myself searching for a new direction. Having spent decades leading retail design teams for large corporations, I realized I didn’t want to return to the world of endless meetings, travel, and emails that required me to delegate the creative work I love to others.
Art, for me, is less about rendering a preconceived idea and more about embarking on a journey of discovery. My process typically begins with a spark—a detail that catches my eye, a sketch on my iPad or a fleeting moment I capture with my phone camera.
When I create art, I occasionally find myself drawn into a narrative about the subject, akin to the imagined personas that pop into my mind when I glimpse an enigmatic person through a car window or seated at a nearby table in a café.
